Short answer: typically four Toyota Levin sedans fit in a 40ft high-cube (40HQ) container, loaded two-up and two-down on a steel racking system. Without racking, only two fit on the floor. The final number is always confirmed in the loading plan for your shipment.

How big is a 40ft high-cube container inside?

A standard 40ft high-cube container is roughly 12.0 m long, 2.35 m wide and 2.69 m high inside, with a door opening of about 2.34 m wide and 2.58 m high. Exact figures vary slightly by container manufacturer.

How are four sedans loaded?

Two Levins end-to-end take about 9.3–9.4 m of the container's 12 m length, so two cars fit per level. Two levels need about 2.9 m of height for two 1.44 m-tall cars, more than the container's interior height. Loaders solve this with a steel rack that holds the upper car at an angle, nose or tail raised, so the two levels interlock. The cars are strapped to the rack and floor, wheels chocked, and the battery terminal protected.

Can I mix models in one container?

Yes. Mixed-model containers are common: for example two Levin hybrids and two Levin 1.5L, or Levins with other compact cars from our range. We plan the loading so that the combination fits safely.

Container or Ro-Ro: which costs less per car?

  • Container (40HQ): best for one to about a dozen cars, mixed orders, or ports without regular Ro-Ro calls. Better protection from weather and handling.
  • Ro-Ro: usually cheaper per car for larger batches to ports with Ro-Ro services. Cars are driven on and off the ship.
